#Attraction ,#Kids ,#Summer ,#Winter ,#Zoo&Aquarium

Hiroshima is famous for its sightseeing spot Miyajima, and here you will find Miyajima Aquarium, which specializes in exhibits of sea animals from the Seto Inland Sea. Although it is lovely to tour the shrines, temples and the natural environs of Miyajima, we recommend you checking out this appealing Miyajima Aquarium.

What is So Uniquely Appealing About the Miyajima Aquarium?

At Miyajima Aquarium, you can see rare sea animals such as Finless Porpoise and Otter, but even more unique are the exhibits based on the sea animals that live locally.

See an unique exhibit of the conger eel, famous in Miyajima, as it pokes its head out of a bamboo pipe. You can say this is a very unique aquarium, but what really makes it interesting is how it highlights the various characteristics of Miyajima or Hiroshima by showcasing unique entertainment attractions all over the aquarium.

An Oyster Raft Under the Sea

On the 1st floor of the building, we have a reproduction display of an oyster raft. Hiroshima is famous for its oyster production, but it is a very rare sight to be able to see it from this angle.

Amusing Movements of the Adorable Otters

There are many cute animals on display at the Miyajima Aquarium, but the Small-clawed Otter (Aonyx Cinerea) is hugely popular with the kids.  2 otter pools are on the 1st floor, and you won’t be able to take your eyes off them as they swim freely about in their comical way. Close to the pool, and you will find more sea animals! You can see up close and personal the impressive show of sea lions at the live pool .

Keep Checking for Limited Time Events and Exhibits!

The Miyajima Aquarium has various seasonal events and limited engagement exhibits. This is a display that is a tribute to the Hiroshima Toyo Carp, available for viewing until September 30, 2018.

The Hiroshima Toyo Carp is a local baseball team that is easily recognizable with the red uniform and helmet. In this water tank, you can see unique goldfish that look like they are wearing a red helmet!
