Yasha Udon

Despite being so spicy, you just can’t stop eating it!

Yasha udon, sold at the Gonbei udon restaurant, is an incredible dish! Just as its catchphrase says, it’s ‘spicier than the devil’, with a spicy broth that stands out as its finest trait. It isn’t unusual to see customers sweating just from drinking its broth.

And yet, it still retains a deep flavor, which goes together perfectly with the crunchiness of its spring onions. It’s a dish that will really make an impression, so if you visit Kagura Monzen Toji Village be sure to taste it. One regular bowl of Yasha udon is ¥650.

What Is the Village Like?

Just taking one step into the village will probably evoke a feeling of nostalgia in you, as if you had traveled to the past.

There are many takeout foods and stores selling local foods which allow you to take a stroll down its streets as you eat.

There are also many sweets shops which will surely make the kids happy. You will also find some capsule toy vending machines in one of its buildings, so be sure not to miss it!

Access

You can drive to Kagura Monzen Toji Village by car in about an hour from Hiroshima city. There are no railways or buses that stop at the village, but there is a special free bus service which we recommend. It will take you to the Kagura performances (except the nighttime shows) on the days when they take place.

Get on the bus that goes to Miyoshi/Shobara from the Hiroshima bus center and get off at the Midori high-speed bus stop. From there you can reach Kagura Monzen Toji Village, so be sure to use this method if you are going to visit the village.
