There are a number of unique flower farms in Sera-cho but there is only one which consists mainly of lavenders with an herb theme i.e. Kozan Lavender Hill. What is Kozan Lavender Hill?

Kozan Lavender Hill is located on Sera Highlands and features an herb garden with a wide variety of fragrant herbs, gardens with seasonal flowers and facilities such as a sundry shop. Not only can you find herbs displayed here, you can also purchase over 200 types of herb seedlings to grow them at home or enjoy an original menu of delicacies made from the herbs at the restaurant. As such, you will be able to get a complete herbal experience here with your five senses.
Although the farm is closed during winter, many tourists nationwide come here for the blooms during the warmer seasons where they can enjoy a therapeutic day surrounded by nature and flowers.
What are the 3 Flower Festivals?
Besides showcasing herbs, Kozan Lavender Hill organizes various flower festivals in its sprawling gardens on a seasonal basis which are definitely worth checking out.

Between late April and late May, the Poppy Festival features a staggering total of about 500,000 colorful Iceland poppies. These beautiful blooms are spread across the fields and also integrated into art works such as a flower clock or three-dimensional flower beds.

From early May to the middle of July, it’s time for the Lavender Festival where lavenders and roses are fill up a field measuring about 1 hectare. You will feel as if you are in a western-style garden despite being in Japan at the sight of these flowers.
Last but not least, the Cosmos Festival held between early September and mid-October transforms the lavender hill which is at 500m above sea level to a cosmos hill. Get a feel of autumn through these colorful beauties which include varieties such as the large-sized cosmos, yellow cosmos and rare species like the Double Click.
Depending on the weather, the blooming conditions of the flowers may differ. Nonetheless, you can stand to get discounted admission tickets when you visit while the flowers are not in full bloom yet or have passed their peak. That is to say, you will be able to enjoy this place in different ways depending on the timing of your visit.
How to Spend Your Time at Kozan Lavender Hill
There are many benches and chairs within the premises thus allowing you to enjoy the flower fields and herb garden from a variety of angles.
It is also worth noting that there are a number of hammocks set up within the garden so it would be a great idea to sway gently in these and have a relaxing time.
Don’t forget to check out the exclusive lavender ice cream or herb teas here which cannot be found elsewhere. Immerse yourself in this slow-paced atmosphere and bask in the beauty of nature to the fullest!
