This time, I will be introducing 4 shops and facilities where you can come into contact with various nice stuff of Hiroshima and Japan. You will be able to find something nice for your loved ones and yourself at these places!


Located just a minute’s walk from the Honkawa-cho electric tram stop in Naka Ward is a small shop named “READAN DEAT” which sells books and utensils.

You can find a range of tasteful books and utensils lined up in the store which are specially curated by the owner.

As every item has its own uniqueness and character, you are bound to find something you like and feel the owner’s love for his merchandise.

You can also find a variety of utensils which will spice up your dining table at this shop. Don’t forget to check out the regular events and pop-up shops bursting with originality which are held on a regular basis.

Among the events held here, you can get a taste of traditional art and craft alongside modern lifestyle goods used in Hiroshima and Japan through the wide array of works from different eras and styles presented here.

“Pencil” is a shop selling furniture, lights, fabric and small interior items in the Fukuromachi area which is close to Hondori Shopping Street, the main street of Hiroshima City’s urban district.

With its concept of developing attachment and fondness in a long-term and precious relationship, the shop offers a wide variety of goods which can still remain your favorite despite the passage of time.

You can find many types of popular products from famous manufacturers located nationwide or local artists.

“Tanemaki” is a popular sundries shop in Hiroshima which opened in 2005 and has since branched into selling its own line of products along with that from other manufacturers.

With the owner’s concept of enjoying everyday life to the fullness, you can find a wide selection of handmade items which aim to do the same for you.

At Tanemaki, there is an extensive range of utensils, bags, foodstuff and jewellery which are bound to excite you. These unique items are made by Japan’s craftsmen which are great to be given as gifts on special occasions such as wedding anniversaries or Mother’s Day.

The leather pouch wallet here is an original item which was created based on customer feedback and has been very popular since the shop opened. As to why it is so well-received, it is said that the wallet is of the right size for people to put their money, cards and handphones inside and bring them around with ease.  The owner’s willingness to take customer needs into consideration when deciding on the product range is probably what makes this shop so popular over the years.

How about swinging by this large one-stop-facility which houses not only a sundries shop but also cafes, experiential events to participate in and various stores for you to buy souvenirs at?

HIROSHIMA ORIZURU TOWER is a multi-purpose facility built in 2016 and housed within a 14-story building measuring 51.5m high which allows you to enjoy all of “made in Hiroshima” under one roof.

It is located just beside Hiroshima Peace Memorial and attracts many tourists daily.

The souvenir shop named “Hito to Ki” (Human and Tree) is located on the first floor and offers about 100 types of traditional desserts, sundries, wine etc. from longstanding brands representative of Hiroshima.

There are also special events where you can buy in-season foodstuff. On the 12th floor of the building, you can watch videos and learn how to make crane origami at the Orizuru Square. The completed cranes can then be added to the Orizuru Wall which is the symbol of this building and represents your wish for peace.

At the side of the souvenir shop is “Akushu Café” (Handshake Café) which features a menu using ingredients from Hiroshima and Seto Inland Sea. You may choose to dine in or takeaway food and drinks from this café.

Do check out the observatory at HIROSHIMA ORIZURU TOWER which offers a panoramic view of Hiroshima City. The sunset view here is much raved about by the locals and tourists. Seeing the Hiroshima Peace Memorial lit up in the night and how the streets of Hiroshima get covered by the golden sunset are bound to become unforgettable memories for anyone who comes here.
