Winter (Dec, Jan,Feb)
As you may know, Japan has four distinct seasons, starting with cold winter. Most areas in Hiroshima are cool or cold at this time of year, but no problem for a trip. There may be a chance of rain or snow, but precipitation in Hiroshima is lower than in other parts of the country.
In the season, the city is not crowded, making it a great time to visit if you like peace and quiet! Just remember that many businesses are closed over the New Year period, which runs from around December 29th to January 3rd. However, temples and shrines remain open as usual. We recommend to bring a down jacket that you can put on and take off easily. If it’s easily stowable in your bag, that’s better.
Spring (Mar, Apr, May)
In spring, the cities are thronged with people coming to see the cherry blossoms which bloom from late March to early April. In March, the temperatures vary from cold to warm. Although weather tends to be warm in April, it will be quite chilly in morning, so pack accordingly — bringing a lightweight fleece or jacket is a great idea!
In May, the weather is warm and pleasant, but not overly hot. The trees are full of fresh greenery, and there are beautiful flowers in bloom everywhere, so there is a lot of activity for people going out and about. In late May, the weather starts to get hot. You should wear light, breathable clothes in order to stay cool.
Summer (Jun, Jul, Aug)
In June and July, Hiroshima has a rainy season. It doesn’t rain every day, but it can feel pretty humid. The rainy season lasts until late July. At that time, the temperatures begin rising toward the summer highs.
August in Hiroshima is usually hot and humid, so we recommend drinking a lot of fluids to beat the heat and enjoy your trip! For these hot, humid months, opt for breathable, short-sleeved shirts or sleeveless clothes.
Autumn (Sep, Oct, Nov)
Autumn is marked by typhoons and heavy rain in September.Although the heat of summer lasts until mid-September, mornings and evenings in October are often comfortably cool. The stunning fall foliage starts in late October and lasts through late November. In November, mornings and evenings can be chilly. The weather is generally cool and sunny during this time of year, though – perfect for visiting Hiroshima!Bring a lightweight fleece or jacket that you can put on and take off with ease.
Monthly Temperature (°C/°F)
In Hiroshima, city life and nature coexist. There are many places where you can enjoy beautiful seasonal vistas. If I had to pick my favorite, I’d have to go with autumn!I hope this helps you prepare for your upcoming trip to Hiroshima. So, have you decided what season you’ll be visiting in?
