You must be excited if it’s your first time visiting Hiroshima! At the same time, you might be wondering, “What’s the temperature like in Hiroshima?”,or “What kind of clothes should I wear?” In this article, we’ll tell you useful tips that are good to know before packing for Hiroshima!

Seasonal Differences

Winter (Dec, Jan,Feb)

Dec Jan Feb
High 12 10 11
Low 4 2 2
High 54 50 52
Low 39 36 36

As you may know, Japan has four distinct seasons, starting with cold winter. Most areas in Hiroshima are cool or cold at this time of year, but no problem for a trip. There may be a chance of rain or snow, but precipitation in Hiroshima is lower than in other parts of the country.
In the season, the city is not crowded, making it a great time to visit if you like peace and quiet! Just remember that many businesses are closed over the New Year period, which runs from around December 29th to January 3rd. However, temples and shrines remain open as usual. We recommend to bring a down jacket that you can put on and take off easily. If it’s easily stowable in your bag, that’s better.

Spring (Mar, Apr, May)

Mar Apr May
High 14 20 24
Low 5 10 15
High 57 68 75
Low 41 50 59

In spring, the cities are thronged with people coming to see the cherry blossoms which bloom from late March to early April. In March, the temperatures vary from cold to warm. Although weather tends to be warm in April, it will be quite chilly in morning, so pack accordingly — bringing a lightweight fleece or jacket is a great idea!

In May, the weather is warm and pleasant, but not overly hot. The trees are full of fresh greenery, and there are beautiful flowers in bloom everywhere, so there is a lot of activity for people going out and about. In late May, the weather starts to get hot. You should wear light, breathable clothes in order to stay cool.

Summer (Jun, Jul, Aug)

>

August in Hiroshima is usually hot and humid, so we recommend drinking a lot of fluids to beat the heat and enjoy your trip! For these hot, humid months, opt for breathable, short-sleeved shirts or sleeveless clothes.
